New Xbox Experience Today
The New Xbox Experience has been released today and the next time you log in to your Xbox Live account you’ll be prompted with an update. Your console will restart to download the update as it’s a bigger update than usual.
After it’s installed you’ll get a little introduction video and you’ll be brought to the new Dashboard. You’ll be prompted to agree to a new Terms of Use after signing back in again. After this, you can start to create your own avatar.
Once you’ve done that you’re taken back to the Dashboard. From here you can check your friends list, you can check the marketplace and stuff like that. Major Nelson has written 10 things to do when you get the New Xbox Experience on his blog.
Initial impressions are posative. Everything seems to load a lot faster than it did in the old dashboard, and I think that it looks better too. Also, i’ve noticed that when you get a game invite you’re now told which game they invite you in the notification you get. This is a lot better than having to go to the guide to find out which game they wanted to play.
Also, you can queue stuff up for download by going to Xbox.com now. Pretty handy, methinks.
I haven’t had much playtime with it yet though (My sister is rather anxous to create her avatar) so i’ll write up more detailed posts as I go along and explore a little bit. Initial impressions are posative though.
